What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) combine the structure and support of inpatient care with the flexibility of outpatient treatment. At Recovery Ways Idaho, our IOP is led by Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) with over thirty years of combined experience in mental health treatment.
Based on clinical necessity, patients are assigned to either a 3-day or 5-day weekly schedule and participate in three-hour group therapy sessions that incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and life skills development. These sessions help individuals build practical coping strategies while staying connected to a supportive community. In addition to group therapy, patients receive medication management and weekly individual therapy, with the option to continue care after completing the program.
What an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Can Do for Mental Health Disorders
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are a structured form of outpatient care that provide more support than standard therapy sessions. These programs are especially helpful for individuals managing mental health conditions, as they offer more frequent and focused treatment. Through individual therapy, group therapy, and other evidence-based approaches, participants gain the tools and support needed to manage symptoms and strengthen their overall well-being.
IOPs also foster a sense of connection and accountability, giving individuals the opportunity to build community while continuing to manage daily responsibilities. This added structure can be an important step toward greater stability and long-term mental wellness.
