What is a Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP)?

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) combine the structure and support of inpatient care with the flexibility and accessibility of remote treatment. At Recovery Ways Idaho, our Virtual IOP is led by Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) with over thirty years of combined mental health treatment experience.

Based on clinical necessity, we offer both 3-day and 5-day weekly schedules. Clients participate in three-hour group therapy sessions delivered securely online. These sessions incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and life skills development, helping individuals build practical coping strategies while staying connected to a supportive community.

In addition to group therapy, Virtual IOP at Recovery Ways Idaho includes weekly individual therapy, with the option to continue care after completing the program. This flexible structure allows individuals to receive consistent, high-level support while maintaining work, school, and personal responsibilities.

What a Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP) Can Do for Mental Health Disorders
Mental Health Disorders

Virtual intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are a structured form of outpatient care that provide more support than standard therapy sessions, now accessible from wherever a patient feels most comfortable. These programs are especially helpful for individuals managing mental health conditions, as they offer more frequent and focused treatment without requiring travel or time away from daily life. Through individual therapy, group therapy, and other evidence-based approaches, participants gain the tools and support needed to manage symptoms and strengthen their overall well-being.

Virtual IOPs also foster a sense of connection and accountability, giving individuals the opportunity to build community online while continuing to manage daily responsibilities. This added structure can be an important step toward greater stability and long-term mental wellness.
